Been Pondering..

And after considerable consideration, think a good part of why I got such few photographic keepers at the No Kings II march was the actual tenor of the crowd itself. The whole attitude of this particular version (and it seems it wasn't just a San Francisco thing) was more upbeat and satirical, complete with an absolute plethora of costumes... particularly- The Inflatables! Satire and weird get ups are always part of the overall festivities, but this had an almost predominantly exuberant, playful Halloween costume parade feel to it!

Now, I'm all for laughs, non-violence and positive vibes- but I hope this was a one off; not just because of my own selfish photographic needs and desires, but because I think the opposition really needs to be focused, determined and sufficiently motivated to fight back this outright Fascist onslaught. MAGA is playing down and dirty, and while comic relief is often necessary to keep the temperature down, we're certainly not going to humor our way back to all we've lost, and will continue to lose in the three plus years to follow...

  1. I agree, but dictators don’t like to be mocked, so humor can be somewhat effective. Trump is especially thin skinned. Heck, he just slapped an additional 10% tariff on Canada merely for quoting Ronald Reagan. In today’s Republican Party, Reagan must seem as far left as Karl Marx.

  2. Oh, I'm all for mocking, I do it multiple times on a daily basis- if anyone was born and bred to be mocked, it's Donald J. Trump. Unfortunately, this is a fool who has been bequeathed an inordinate amount of power, a fool who has launched us unto a very dangerous path of self destruction. And I don't feel like laughing when pondering how this colossal experiment in misgovernance ultimately implodes on us all, just like his: airline, football team, university, charity and multiple casinos...

  3. Agreed. In fact, judging from their recent rants about antifa and the Democratic Party, I think they are preparing to take the next step toward dictatorship—outlawing the party.
