Kudos to the killing of the Russian general who used chemical weapons against Ukraine! Imagine if everyone who used these nefarious weapons (or tortured countless soldiers and civilians) had to watch their backs for the rest of their lives. Wouldn't that possibly make them think twice before engaging- instead of having toothless threats issued against them as did Obama when POTUS? Aren't there already enough approved ways of killing people in war?
While we're at it- wouldn't it also be great if everyone involved in the serial murders of civilians due to denial of critical health care benefits also paid their dues... in a jail cell? Not everyone has to be killed for their crimes, but some semblance of justice is always appreciated...
They're back, it's the time of year when the shortened daylight hours also produce those long, dramatic, winter shadows. Learn to use and incorporate them into your photographic imagery for their unique graphic appeal!
When the poor fight back, it's called violence.” -Mark Twain
I don't exactly condone murder, then again... I don't exactly condone doing nothing in the face of (repeated, pernicious, unfettered) injustice. Little Luigi sure looks like a murderer to me, and I'm betting that if we conduct the most cursory of looks into the illustrious career of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson- we'd probably discover that he (and so many like him) are certified, categorical serial killers! United Healthcare literally denied 1/3 of their paying customers' health insurance claims. How many of those denied claims resulted in lives of: declining health, torturous pain and ultimately... premature death! Slow, painful, death- not by bullet, but denial!
But fear not dear citizens! Next year we get the repeat performance of a POTUS who promised us a "Bigger, Better, Cheaper" Health Care Plan every other weekend for four long years... When asked on TV's 60 Minutes about his proposed health care plan, he handed the interviewer a literal tome of completely unrelated and blank papers. But next year- next year will be different! When asked about his upcoming policy for his second term, Trump confidently looked the reporter in the eye, and proclaimed- "I have concepts of a plan!"
IfTrump stays true to his word, America will finally be seeing it's quickest, most massive, most well needed weight reduction program in decades. Super Gulps gone, XXX LARGE gone, double wide wheelchairs gone, gone and gone!!! America will be back down to original human, pre-midseventies, weight parameters in a period of four short years- heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and their associated drug dependencies all plummet precipitously!
Not to worry, folks! You'll never see the headline above- Trump ain't dumb, he knows what side of the scale his voter base is on. There's gonna be plenty headlines about deporting illegals for the first few months, but round about spring when everybody gets to eyein' their barbies- no more news about immigrants, 'cause we all need a steady supply of their evil wares to feed our biggest addiction ever... FOOD!We need 'em to plant it, pick it, kill it and chop it all up into the yummy, bite sized, meat goodies we so love to eat, fry, grill, and eat some more! And there sure as hell ain't no red blooded, true blue, American patriot that's gonna break their goddamn back working under the sun, day after grueling day- no matter how much ya pay 'em!!!
Yes, America is hopelessly addicted to our friendly, low cost, drug suppliers from down south- and them darned illegals damn well know it! And despite the bluster, despite all our god fearing hootin' and a hollerin', ain't no way we gonna chase 'em all out, not when we need 'em for the fix we're too damn lazy to supply ourselves. No way... Jose!
My GR stopped cold a few weeks back while taking the simple snap above- screen just went dead! Found the place to repair it ($274) with a "free cleaning" thrown in. Then thought, why not send in my first, 'retired GR' (well worn, but still works- just needs a sensor cleaning). Precision Camera (authorized Ricoh repair center) wanted the same price just for the cleaning, which true, is still cheaper than a brand new GR3 (if ya can actually get one)- still, it just rubbed me the wrong way. C'mon, make it an even $250 at least- throw me a bone! So I said thank you- no thank you! Which was really kinda stupid 'cause... it's still way cheaper than even buying a used one in Exc Cond- cause even that one's gonna have dust too!
But what really influenced my no go position was... I stumbled upon this video, and sure enough, idiot that I am, psyched myself up that, yeah, sure, I can do that- and it's the exact-same-thing that the repair guy's gonna do! Except I can do it for absolute... FREE! Except he can do it in his sleep cause he's done it a thousand trillion times, and all I'm gonna do is open it up (if I can get that far), and drop, tear or break something- which at least will spare me from having to not be able to put the whole damn thing back together again!
Too embarrassed to send it back again now anywho. If I can only find the proper sized screwdriver! Say what? Yeah, this'll make a good... retirement project end of next year- a nice relaxing holiday project.
I'm perpetually bemused by these Black, Brown (name the shade) individuals who think that by cozying up to power- they'll automatically (or at least tentatively) be accepted into the fold of the White (let's be serious) Conservative Power Elite with full and equal rights, privilege and acceptance. That's an L, an O and an L...
These fools refuse to face the reality that when they find themselves bobbing up and down in the freezing water as their abandoned boat sinks, the oar The Right will extend on their behalf from the passing lifeboat will not be used to pull them in, but to batter 'em upside the head. Those in charge will simply assume them one of the usual dark skinned rapists, drug dealers or other criminals they were very much born to be, not one of the (theoretically) possible "good ones."
No matter, some people choose to dream on, or deny...
* Speaking of non-White peoples... yes, Bill Maher, every inch of Americais, in fact, stolen land! No, the claim doesn't hold much water or practical use in our modern day. Yes, other lands throughout history have also been stolen- but that still doesn't make it any the less true. It's exactly the kind of recurring history that would inspire an adage such as- "Ain't no justice on stolen land."
Went to the Leica Gallery here in San Francisco a few days ago, and I must say it's far from the stuffy, elitist institution one would tend to think. In addition to the quality exhibits they usually have, they also have a number of books in the back for sale or perusal and the people there are quite friendly and accommodating- not the kind of treatment someone like myself is accustomed to, ie- being followed about as "a person of interest' in many a place that sells high priced, premium items. So it feels kinda nice experiencing how the other half lives...
Anyway, I was looking through a few books, many of which were quite good- but which were so very similar to those I have previously bought over the decades. Then I noticed Mark Murrmann's Burned Out, a small (5x6 1/2in) little indie made on the cheap in a spiral bound format. I love small book formats that one can easily carry about for a 'quick read.' It consists of forty B&W prints mostly printed double truck across the spiral along with some single page verticals. It's a typology of tire burnouts, many of them occurring during illegal 'sideshows' in Oakland, CA. Many of them read almost as abstracts, although several are more documentary in nature displaying adjoining buildings and other neighborhood details. It's a small labor of love, as are many indie publications. I've done a coupla typologies myself, but on the generic Blurb format- not quite the same thing! It lacks the uniqueness, the personalization... the love!
Of course, none of it adds up to anything unless the images hold up- and that's where the imagination really shines. The photos are not only fun, they're unique, imaginative images unto themselves. A first rate how to manual on making something worthwhile and memorable outta literal skidmarks...
Well, must say I did way, way better in procuring new images this year than I had dared think possible- all in a city now bereft of over half its downtown population and services (no joke). I actually managed to get fifty genuine keepers this year, which amazes me more than anyone- a guy who for decades struggled for 2-3-4 per year (if lucky)- while living in NYC no less! I'd like to think it's because of a heightened sense of urgency (mortality looms), but I'm trying no harder now than at any other time previous! In part, it's the annual photo op events held here, but maybe this whole color thing agrees with me more than I realize, don't know; whatever it is, just hope it continues- cause I can't continue being this lucky indefinitely...
That said, I didn't exactly succeed at getting any of it actually... seen- ya know, the whole bleepin' purpose of photography! Send it out and it gets sent back in your face... This year I really got creative in the self abuse arena- I actually started sending out the pdf for my zine/wanna be book Broken City!which I'm fairly pleased with. I like making books/zines, and that was a particular challenge trying to corral a whole bunch of loosely related issues into one coherent storyline- using nothing but pictures. Think I kinda pulled it off, least, like to think so...
I do miss having (not so much making, but having) actual prints though, it's where photography ultimately shines, as in- show me what ya got, close up and personal! Rich, sensual, satisfying, the ultimate culmination of everything that went into pressing that shutter- all the hope, dreams and potential made flesh despite every technical, personal and aesthetic problem that stood in the way!
The end of 2025 will also pose new possibilities (and problems) for sure- retirement! Never done it. More time to go out on the road promoting my: books, prints, exhibits and speaking/lecture tours, uh-huh. Which reminds me... all those authors, actors and artists with the nerve to actually moan and groan about having to go out and promote their work on (a paid) tour- a pox on the whole lot of 'em...
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
PS- Saw that poster a half hour previous in a poorly lit locale, carefully untaped and walked about some seeing if I could find it a better venue. The gasoline station seemed worth a try, so I retaped and shot away. The guy on the left center emerged from his gasoline hut to see what the hell I was doing- looked at it, looked at me, and walked on back. Didn't realize how well the blue tape complemented the blue stripes of the station till I got home.
I was familiar with the sightings in both Hudson Valley, NY in the '80s and those in Belgium (2:10-19:30) in the '90s. What I didn't know was that there were hundreds of sightings at each over the years. In Hudson Valley, entire towns (and their respective police forces) witnessed a variety of giant boomerang shaped UFO's on a regular basis; a decade later, civilians, police, radar and even F-16's repeatedly witnessed a slew of triangular shaped craft.
Obviously, all of these hundreds of individuals in separate towns, many professionals, most unknown to each other, conspired to fool a worldwide public- or were the unknowing victims of "mass hysteria." The only viable, if ludicrous, 'explanations' other than the most obvious- the mass witnessing of unknown craft of unknown origin and technology maneuvering under unknown, but intelligent control.
I've been interested in UFO's since the '70s and am quite familiar with most of the major cases in "Ufology." What I didn't realize until quite recently however is how many thousands upon thousands of sightings and cases have been reported across our planet- describing a wide variety of UFO configurations and behaviors, along with a surprisingly wide variance in the physical appearances and behaviors of many of their occupants. The question isn't are we being visited- it's how many different races of beings are we being visited by? And, of course... why?
Whistleblowers are currently testifying before members of Congress- many handcuffed in what they can say publicly under threats of legal action from our government (violate their NDA's and it's off to jail they go), as well as the recipients of death threats from...
It's no secret that it's easier to control those ignorant of how they are controlled, those incapable of wresting control to best suit their own needs. You don't need any draconian laws or authoritarian police force; you just need to subtly deny them the knowledge of their own disempowerment. Simply make that source of knowledge and learning too costly and out of reach. Banish tuition free universities, defund education programs on all levels- publicly ridicule and humiliate the few who dare to expose the ruse. And if anyone asks why things are not working out the way they should- there are always plenty of less fortunate to blame!
Well, close enough... and the photos just ain't coming fast and easy anymore, as if ever, if at all. So... what to do, what-to-do. Tis the season to review the files and see what needs some readjusting, a nip here, a tuck there. For those of you with a Master's in photo-editing, you need not apply; for those like me who marvel at those like you, this is the time to continue to putter along and refine my skills (ie- fix it the wrong way the best way possible) best I can, one little pixel at a time. Every year, I tell myself I've finally caught up with all my color images, and every year I find yet more images that still need a tune up. At least it's something photographic to do when not actually making new ones- and in a way, you are.
Retirement's coming in one year, and the plan is to finally put on my big boy pants and invest in grown up photo-editing software like Lightroom or Capture One. Maybe then, I'll finally have the time, if not the patience, to learn a full fledged editing system and (perhaps) make my life a tad easier (after the long and unforeseeable months of torturous, self inflicted trial and error)... or not.
So where are: the craft, the bodies, the artifacts- or at least, verifiable pictures and videos of such?!?
A) What most people don't realize is that the majority of these whistleblowers are still very much under government contract- if they spill and present everything they know to the public at large... they'd be in prison by end of day. Period.
B) Keep in mind, most of these same whistleblowers have also testified behind closed doors at secret congressional hearings where they can and have provided enough meat and potatoes for their claims to actually warrant these government officials to proceed in public without fear of ridicule.
Most likely, there'll be a continued, slow drip, drip, drip of info on this topic until the straw finally breaks the camel's back and it's no longer advantageous to maintain the lies and subterfuge...
Ain't we all (on the losing side)? And the reasons, most assuredly are legion, but here are a few that pertain to 75% of most political debacles:
✔ If you repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it, and you will even come to believe it yourself.
✔ Propaganda must facilitate the displacement of aggression by specifying the targets for hatred (emphasis mine).
✔ This is the secret of propaganda: Those who are to be persuaded by it should be completely immersed in the ideas of the propaganda, without ever noticing that they are being immersed in it.
I like giving credit where credit due, Trump is the greatest con man (as in one who gains your "confidence") in a century- it is where the majority of his "very, very large brain" resides. He has elevated racism, misogyny and outright ignorance into badges of pride and honor- even pre-Sixties Southern bigots knew deep down that it was nothing to be openly proud about (thus the hoods). Trump is so good at it, that he has even convinced those of the affected categories (ie- those blanketly victimized by his taunts, vitriol and retribution) that they are not like... the rest; so good at it, that a convicted felon (with 11 close "associates" who have either plead guilty or have been convicted and sentenced) can run on a "law and order platform." Easy solutions for tough problems, and if reality gets in the way, simply revert to the three tenets above.
Yeah, I could go on, even though it really does one no good- what good did delving into all the inequities of the George W. regime do us now? I 'learned' that we could not possibly go any lower, and yet, lower did we go- much, much, much lower! But I yam what I yam, soI'll eventually I've already dug in for the next four years, a decidedly worse four than the insanity that preceded it... forever hoping like the fool I am that evil finally gets its comeuppance.
I never laughed so hard as when Trump was elected in 2016; no one expected it- certainly not Hillary, and least of all Trump! I thought it would be a good wake up call for America- a full display of what happens when we don't pay attention, don't take things seriously, and provide mayhem an open invitation.
I used to think that which abided in our darkest of corners was best let into the light of day for all to see, and therefore exposed, confronted, and ultimately condemned. I hadn't considered the majority of our nation being just fine with itin the 21st century(just as one hundred years previous), rationalizing and even reveling in it. Southern racists always tried to downplay, disguise and reinterpret their overt racism to the public at large; deep down, even they knew it was the stuff of evil. But along came Trump and said it was not only OK, but something to embrace and declare pride in, loud and openly- and he did it on his very first day! And followed it with ample doses of misogyny, homophobia and a general worship of the very lowest common denominator, vehemently demeaning: education, the arts, empathy and understanding- all were the tell tale traits of those we have always been meant to ridicule, despise and... eradicate.
Unless physically attacked by one of his riled up minions, I'll probably survive yet another four years of successively worse chaos. Our fragile ruse of democratic rule will take a much more serious hit this time around. Laws regulating our ecosystems will be eviscerated into nonexistence (Project 2025 advocates removal of environmental and clean water regulations) and climate change will be allowed to prosper unabated. More immediately, Ukraine and Gaza will suffer even more needless destruction, loss of homeland and loss of life...
President Trump will now be free to exonerate himself of his pending criminal trials- evidence and justice be damned! His inherently addled "very, very large brain" is now further encumbered by demonstrably obvious signs of increasingly debilitating dementia- his already strikingly limited vocabulary now overflowing with confusion, forgetfulness and misarticulated mounds of unfiltered filler. Funny how they could see it so plainly in their once adversary, but refuse to acknowledge the same with their own...
I wish I could say it will all finally be over by this Wednesday AM, but of course, anyone with half a lick knows it won't. And anyone who says they know who is going to win (except maybe for this guy) is, well...
Actually, if Trump wins, the future is fairly easy to predict, a slow steady dissipation of basic civil rights concerning: voting, freedom of the press, free speech, labor rights, health care, women's rights concerning their own bodies and birth control in general, environmental regulations, etc, etc, etc... This from a guy (with "a very, very large brain") who promised to repeal Obamacare, failed to come up with any alternative in his four years, and admits only vague "concepts" of a plan after an additional four to ponder; a guy who said "child care is child care," and whose environmental and climate change 'policy' consists of "I love clean water," denying that his Project 2025 guidebook champions repeal of clean water regulations. A guy who said that women should, in fact, "be punished" if they undergo an abortion, has threatened the press with jail time and believes the military should be unleashed on protestors (other than his own).
This time his administration will consist solely of sycophants and yes men that will compete to make his authoritarian whims come true- and he'll be backed by a compliant and sympathetic Supreme Court. His own court proceedings will magically vanish, and anyone left objecting or defiant will be subject to (extra)judicial overreach. In short, the swamp will become a quagmire for all who defy his edicts.
Should Harris be victorious, the status quo remains and chugs along as always- the usual ineptitude, corruption and negligence that has always ruled and accompanied our republic. Well, that doesn't sound very good, Stan- it is, what it is.* And what that is, is a thousand times better than what would remain standing under Trump.
Thing is, before we even get to that level of normalized complacency- we still won't be done with Orange Man Borealis. He's going to declare victory regardless before resting the fading golden whisp to bed that Tuesday evening, again. And he's going to declare robbery, theft and all manner of skullduggery the following morning, again. And, yes, once again he will call upon his minions to do his bidding and overturn the election, by any means necessary... There will be protests, there will be riots, and most likely, there will be blood. How crazy it will get is more an unknown than anything that will occur this Tuesday. Hopefully, by next spring, the dust will have settled, and some semblance of normalcy will once again prevail, the name of Trump only mentioned with each succeeding conviction and sentencing.
*The century past, one could effectively argue that Democrats/Republicans were two sides of the same coin. In the 2000 election, I finally got to vote my heart (for the first and most likely last time)- I cast my vote for Ralph Nader. And I suppose it could be (could be) argued that without Nader in the mix, Al Gore would have been President- which means that the completely unnecessary and illegal war in Iraq would have never happened... thousands upon thousands of lives, and billions upon billions of dollars saved!
I hope every Conservative pastor, every Republican civic leader and parent throughout the land proudly shows this clip to their family and children; for this is what the very meaning of "presidential" looks like- someone whose actions, behavior and temperament are a model of what we all aspire to, what we all can and hopefully should be when life takes its inevitable toll and we rise to show what we are truly like in the face of the most audacious adversity imaginable. This is the character, the moral fortitude of the man they seek to lead them, their family... their nation!
Even I, as a Puerto Rican, could have laughed off "the floating island of garbage" joke if (IF!) he had spread the... love to others, IF he had gone on to some self deprecating humor. But no- the purpose here wasn't to have fun (see 9:30), it wasto make fun of those they don't like, those they look down on, those they think are less than...
Then he went on to claim, after the fact, that "I made fun of everyone." No-you-did-Not! Wish ya did now (maybe), but not then. It would be ironic indeed, if Puerto Ricans, the very same people Trump so contemptuously threw rolls of paper towels at (looking every bit the bored fraternity bro 'shooting baskets' in his dorm room pissed off his toga party was cancelled in order to tend to the sorry unfortunates before him) now had the opportunity to help make Tucker's dream come true, "We are very, very close to being able to ignore Trump most nights, I truly can't wait." You and me both Tuck-Tuck, how does an island victory cruise sound?
Talk about guts! A lot of would be photographers remark how they fear incurring the wrath of strangers on the street should they point the camera their way- a wayward glance, an uncouth comment... This guy risked it all every single time he pressed the shutter- and it cost him. Special ops agent? A goddamn department store, handkerchief salesman!
I thought we all tolerated this guy's asinine behavior because, well, after all, he is... A Genius! No doubt of that, especially with all that money. So naturally, we all cut the guy some slack. But, uh... what if, he's not? What if he's just another scammer deluxe? What if the reason he acts like an utter asshole is because he's an actual utter asshole- another BS artist currently supporting yet another BS artist!
Like so many others, I had naturally assumed (exactly what one should never do) the guy was: an engineer, physicist or some failed genius, scientist, whatever- but genius all the same. And he's- none of the above! He's got Bachelors in physics and economics- Bachelors! Fuck, even I gotta Master's! Another 2 bit con who takes other people's ideas, and then calls them his own. He's not deserving of leeway, but of scrutiny of the highest bloody order...
And then, there's this human shit- Trump loving ("I hate him passionately"), bow tie sporting, M&M defending, son of an heiress guy...
This posh locale is situated atop a hill on a secluded dead end street with a scenic overlook of the bay. Sex and serenity with a view (unless, of course, you suddenly found yourself completely delusional for no apparent reason)!
I honestly don't know what to make of this guy. His affect is far from grandiose, actually, he's pretty low key, and as a fairly accomplished actor, I gotta think that maybe, just maybe, his whole genius routine is one grand act, a prank, a how dumb do ya gotta be to take any of this for reals...
And give credit where credit due- his pseudo-science gibberish is masterfully articulate and delivered with such naive enthusiasm and conviction that he makes one genuinely want to denounce science, turn common sense upside down and inside out, then deliriously embrace his scatterbrained combobulation as the truth, the whole truth and nothing but... Seriously, if nothing else- I was entertained... this is a fanciful and articulate version of The Weave, even his mispronunciations sound believable! I want to live in his universe, where anything is possible and you get to believe whatever you say!!! I wanna believe that 1x1= 2, I wanna believe in the bisexual tones of the periodic table! Please, Terrence, anyone- make it all come true!
Yes, some of you may be shocked, taken aback, dismayed even- but your subjects needn't sport outrageous costumes nor dangling privates to create worthy environmental portraits. As we all know, indulging desperate characters and graphic subject matter appeals only to photographers of a much lesser calling. There's just no excuse.
Submitted for your consideration, a couple of wholesome, everyday American subjects taken at the annual, local airshow this past weekend... Art through integrity and strength of vision!
Every once in a (great) while you get that rare someone who speaks with such clear resounding intellect (usually backed by righteous moral outrage) that it leaves one transfixed in awe and wonder. It's an ability to cut to the chase, not just for brevity's sake, but to calculatingly eliminate the subterfuge that lesser minds (as my own) would get needlessly bogged down in before possibly, hopefully climbing out. Two people who immediately come to mind in my lifetime are Malcolm X and Edward Snowden. Whatever the topic you come away less confused, more enlightened and forever amazed at your own innate ignorance...
Ta-Nehisi Coates exemplifies that exact level in this exchange:
Give credit where credit due- good ol' boy JD came on like Mr. Nice Guy Misunderstood during the debate- when he's every bit the liar (though certainly more finessed) than the larger mass of shit he willingly shovels for..
Anyone remember when (Black) Obama had to renounce his (Black) pastor- funny how White guys don't have to... Is that 'racist' for me to mention? Or is the racism inherent in the actual truth?
(Sometimes) ya just have to let loose of all the high falutin', grandiose art expectations in your photographic machinations and embrace the age old, proven simplicity of the good ol' American snapshot! Nothing wrong with it. Your down home vernacular snapshot of the ordinary neighbor next door- the banker, tailor, candlestick maker. Relax, unwind and just enjoy a shared moment. It may not end up in your museum retro, but it may just become its own life long memory that will forever bring a smile to your face, and that of the viewer...
How does one overturn a democracy- by using the democratic means available. Like the German guy did with his country back in the day, and like a certain American governor did with his state around the same time. You pay off, intimidate, replace and bully everyone who has any say or power under and around your circle of influence one step at a time: legislators, courts and judges, police, civil servants, etc, etc, etc...
I don't usually talk the gear talk here, but occasionally I get into it as the prevalent winds (my prevalent winds) demand. I love the 20mm and 28mm (and their 14 and 18mm crop equivalent) focal lengths, use the latter for everyday shooting, while also incorporating the former for event shooting. Recently, I took note of a new 18mm Color Skopar for my Fujifilm cameras, and even though it was manual focus only- I was determined to make it work. The focusing knob and aperture ring on this cute as all hell pancake were true acts of perfection in their precise and silky smooth operation. Alas, the optical quality was... abysmal- far worse than even the 18mm Fuji it was meant to replace! Maybe because it was refurbished, or perhaps it was just a (truly) bad copy? Don't know; but I did focus with the magnified focus check- so that got returned pronto!
The following week I was checking out an image on the screen of my GR, and when I commenced to reframe- the screen went dead! Must've inadvertently pressed some obscure menu item, but after going through the menu several times, seems my initial impression was correct- and off to the repairman it went!
Fortunately, my Leica Q continues to perform despite the two of us tumbling hard on concrete the other day, but I'm always slightly paranoid when I take it out, and I sure wouldn't mind using a second focal length on my Fujis. I've refused to imbibe in the overly large and expensive 18mm f1.4 Fujinon, despite its absolute optical perfection, and have pretty much given up hope of an update on the dismal Fuji pancake or third party equivalent. Then along comes the plastic fantastic Sigma 10-18mm f2.8 WA zoom- could that be the an answer? Now I love the results ofmy optically superlative 14mm f2.8 Fuji (the lens itself is one ugly duckling), and whileI love WA's, I don't have much use for anything wider than 20mm (FF)- and I hate lens diameters that go past the 50's (the Sigma has a 67mm filter diameter)! Otherwise, it is fairly compact, and if it can cover 14 and 18mm with sufficient optical quality (which it supposedly does deliver), I may, just may, be able to get over its obese filter diameter size... maybe not ideal for everyday carry, but it just might spell significant ease of use for special events- one camera, one lens, two fave focal lengths! And if'n it can't- off it goes as well, once it gets here. To be cont...
Apparently, Israel, while still playing the role of eternal victim continues the ever so dangerous game of continual escalation, daring, infuriating and attacking nearly everyone around them with whom they have both legitimate and perceived grudges. They continue to rile as many hornets, tease as many wolves, slap, punch and bully as many opponents as they possibly can- and when the fury that's finally unleashed comes calling... Big Brother USA will get the call to save the day! The final sucker in this sucker's game.
In 1987, Whitley Strieber's Communion, concerning alien contact/abduction, became an international bestseller, years later it became a mediocre movie with a star name and a less than faithful plot. Meanwhile, Strieber went from overnight sensation to media laughing stock when he candidly admitted that he was anally/sexually probed while onboard the alien vessel. He also went from best selling author to flat broke because of the latter- people lost all interest in buying books from the "rectal probe guy."
The UFO field is currently filled with all kinds of 'experts,' a handful are serious about the topic, doing diligent research in their level of expertise- and more credible, legit journalists and scientists are now daring to enter the once career ending field to ask the legit questions and conduct the serious scientific investigation that should have commenced decades ago. Even the US Navy has finally admitted that there's shit flying around up there (and down there) that they have no clue about! But most 'experts' are out to mine it for every buck they can and tell you whatever you want to hear- aliens are here to save us, aliens are here to take you and our planet for themselves, aliens are...
I admire and have a certain degree of trust when it comes to dear ol' Whtiley, he's a profoundly old fashioned kinda guy in a modern world- but mostly, he's someone who flat out admits that he can't really tell ya what they are, where they're from, or what the hell they want. He's quite adamant that we have much to learn from them- technologically, and... spiritually, if we allow ourselves. But buyer beware- the knowledge comes at a cost, it's a give and take relationship with highly unclear, and often deceptive boundaries.
Most people judge this entire field and phenomena from a human perspective, consciously and unconsciously- how can we not. And that's our first major, overriding error. Well, they live too far away, they can't get here in any reasonable amount of time- true... if they were using our 'space age,' rocket turtles! And that's certainly not what we are currently glimpsing in our own airspace (the world over). Reviewing our own technological progress of the last one hundred years, imagine what our own tech could resemble in: a thousand, ten thousand, hundreds of thousands of years...
Not only is their technology beyond our credulity, but so would their culture, their very way of thinking and relating socially- they're from different worlds, dimensions, whatever for Chrissakes! In admitting to the fact that he can't fathom their true motives, Whitley is open to a host of possibilities. If you are new to this field, you'll probably dismiss him in the video above as a fraud and a charlatan simply because of all the craziness he attests to in his life- from his MK-Ultra type origins as a child in the hands of his parents, to his self publicized UFO/alien encounters as an adult. He could have carved out a comfortable niche throughout it all and quite handedly avoided the public humiliation. He's open minded to things you or I would readily dismiss simply because the amount of undefinable, inexplicable craziness he has witnessed in his life is, in fact, beyond belief. So he deals with it best he can, warts and all; you can laugh and dismiss, or listen, ponder and consider...
Well, I wanted to change gears from my last two posts and get upfull and bright for the upcoming weekend- 'fraid that's gonna have to wait...
First, I just briefly wanna state that before the truth came out about MK-Ultra in Congressional hearings, I would get the same humiliatingly dismissive attitude I received from the person I recently consulted (on the legitimacy of a peer reviewed study on traces of nanotech in the Covid vaccines) who claimed to have actually vetted peer reviews. That's not to say that since the prior atrocity proved true, then so too is the latter. No, it most definitely isn't that simple- exactly why it deserves serious scientific investigation to finally be put to bed (or not)... but it will neither be funded, nor published. Just like everyone knows that UAP's are complete figments of the crazed imaginations of hallucinatory individuals!
