  4. Must say- you definitely got something there!

The question is, of course, will anyone be up to holding President Trump's feet to the fire. No one held citizen Trump accountable; and the rest, as they say, is history...

  5. And if impeached- what we'd then be stuck with is no way better, and in some ways worse...

  6. No one, including citizen Trump, thought that Trump would be elected. He was providing entertainment. They didn't think it was necessary to hold his feet to the fire.
Impeachment is a polite, politically correct solution, but it's not the only solution.

  7. That was true at first, but when he became THE GOP Candidate, then it should have been gloves off- and the entertainment should have derived from making that clown squirm every bit as much as he deserves...

  8. Should'a, could'a, would'a...
True, but I'll say it again. No one thought he'd be elected. No one.

The possibility was so far-fetched and absurd to the media, the Democratic Party, and virtually everyone else that they never gave it a serious shot. The odds were long, but just like the lottery, long odds aren't impossible to overcome.

With regard to Pence, his policies might destroy lots of lives, and bring lots of hardship, but it's a pretty good bet that after four years, our planet would still be orbiting the sun. The danger of Pence's politics, his social leanings, and his world view pale in comparison to Trump's deranged temperament and his access to "The Button".

The big question right now is, does Obama have the cojones to take our nuclear arsenal off of hair-trigger before January 20. The next question is, after January 20, do the Republicans have the cojones to impeach Trump for his obvious conflicts of interest and the reckless disregard for our commitments around the world that he'll be bringing to the office of President from the moment he's inaugurated. Dumping Trump, and embracing Pence would be the wisest move they could make. It would restore some small semblance of rationality to their party, and initiate a collective sigh of relief around the world.

  9. Some damn good arguments...

Trump never scared me, it's a dumbed down populace, rightfully mad and woefully ignorant, together with a spineless, celebrity driven media that made this circus of insanity possible. What other Western media would have backed down into abject silence when answered with... "I heard it on the radio, saw it on the internet?" He would have been quickly eviscerated of his 4th grade vocabulary of schoolyard taunts and threats and sent packing hair in hand to the gold plated toilet of his choosing.

Unlike Trump however, who will have to navigate a brand new playing field, battling foes within and without at every step, Pence is a known playa with friends in and knowledge of the Republican hierarchy. He knows who and how to finesse and challenge- only the weakened Democrats would officially and ineffectively challenge his path.

Pick you poison- destruction by impulsive ignorance, or... methodical calculation. As to both your questions, neither does.

  10. I'm hopeful.
At the same time, I'm faithless.
